Resend
- Email API and SMTP
- Sending-only subdomain
- Free plan to start
The sending service behind our follow-up emails and our new-lead alerts. Notifuse and n8n write the message, and Resend gets it to the inbox.
- 3,000free emails a month
- 3separate API keys, one per system
- 2builds on it
- 1service it belongs to
What it's good for
One API, plus SMTP
Tools that can call an API use it. Tools that only speak SMTP, like Notifuse, use the SMTP relay. Both are on every plan.
A free plan that goes far
The free plan allows 3,000 emails a month and 100 a day, plenty for lead alerts and follow-ups from a small team. Pro is $20 a month for 50,000.
Domain checks built in
You verify the sending domain with SPF and DKIM records before it will send from it, so inboxes can tell the mail is really yours.
Resend is the sending service for email that has to arrive the moment it's triggered. It doesn't write or schedule anything. Other tools hand it a finished email and it gets that email to the inbox.
What goes out through it
- Follow-up emails from Notifuse. n8n triggers them and Notifuse hands them to Resend over SMTP.
- New-lead alerts. When a lead comes in from a form on our site or a Meta lead ad, n8n saves it to the CRM, posts in our team chat, texts Ben and Cam and emails the team through Resend.
- Chasers on Meta lead ads. If nobody has picked up one of those leads after ten minutes in business hours, a reminder marked STALE goes out.
- n8n's own system email, such as invites.
Kept apart from marketing
Our lead alerts and follow-ups send from updates.pacing.agency, a subdomain we keep for that. Newsletters and campaigns go through SendGrid on a different one, so a campaign that gets complaints can't drag down an alert or a follow-up.
Set up properly
The sending domain is verified in Resend, so the SPF and DKIM records are in place and inboxes can check the mail really comes from us. Each job has its own API key, so we can switch one off without touching the others.
What we connect it to
Resend gets an email delivered. It doesn't write it, decide who gets it or know when to send it.
It's one part of the setup.
If another part is broken, this one wastes money.
