SendGrid

  • Marketing email
  • Sends via Notifuse
  • DKIM signed

The delivery service for our marketing email. We build the campaign in Notifuse, and SendGrid sends it from the company address, or from Ben or Cam.

Why we use it

What it does well

  • Company, Ben or Cam

Pick who a campaign comes from: the company no-reply address, or Ben or Cam by name.

  • Kept apart from follow-ups

Campaigns go through SendGrid and follow-ups go through Resend, so one can't hurt the other.

  • Signed and checked

DKIM is set up in our DNS and DMARC is on reject, so inboxes can tell it's really us.

  • Plugged into Notifuse

You work in Notifuse, and SendGrid does the sending in the background over SMTP.

  • Ready-made templates

Ten marketing templates sit in Notifuse, and SendGrid delivers whichever one we pick.

  • Not locked in

Notifuse also works with Amazon SES, Postmark, Mailgun and plain SMTP, so we can swap the sender without redoing the emails.

SendGrid delivers our marketing email. It doesn't write anything: we build and schedule each campaign in Notifuse, and Notifuse hands every message to SendGrid to send.

Who it sends as

  • Pacing Agency, from a no-reply address on emails.pacing.agency
  • Ben, from his own pacing.agency address
  • Cam, from his own pacing.agency address

We pick the sender for each campaign, so a newsletter can come from a person instead of a no-reply address.

Kept apart from follow-ups

Follow-ups after a form or a missed call go through Resend, from their own subdomain. Marketing goes through SendGrid. If a campaign gets complaints, it can't drag down whether a booking email lands.

Signed so inboxes can check it

The DKIM records in our DNS point at SendGrid, and our DMARC policy is set to reject. Inboxes that check DMARC will turn away mail faking our address, and our own campaigns pass.

Where it fits

It's one part of the setup.

If another part is broken, this one wastes money.
