Is Cal.com still open source?
Not the version Cal.com ships now. In April 2026 Cal.com moved its production code to a private repository. The public code lives on as Cal.diy, under the MIT licence, for people who want to host a scheduler themselves. We use the hosted Cal.com. It has a free plan for one person with unlimited booking types (check Cal.com's pricing page).
What changed
Cal.com was open source under the AGPL. In April 2026 it took its production code private, and the public repository became Cal.diy under the MIT licence. Cal.diy keeps the scheduling engine, the booking flows and the app framework. Teams, routing forms, workflows, instant booking and single sign-on were taken out.
What we do
We ran our own copy of Cal.com until June 2026. Now we use the hosted version, on this site and on the landing pages we build.
Should you host Cal.diy yourself?
If it's just you and you're happy running a server, it's an option. If you need team scheduling or routing, the hosted Cal.com is simpler.
