Six things we plan for
Wix lets you export less than most platforms, so a good plan starts with what you can't get out.
Blog posts can't be exported
Wix's own support page says it isn't currently possible to export blog posts to other platforms. We rebuild the blog from your live pages, check each post against the Wix original and put every old post URL in the redirect map.
Reviews are lost
Shopify's guide says you can't export or migrate reviews from Wix. We tell you on the first call how many you have, and add them back through a review app if they matter to your sales.
Products with more than three options
Shopify's Store Migration app is in early access and only for certain stores, and products with more than three options won't have their options imported. We check your catalogue for these before choosing the route.
The export stops short
Wix exports products as CSV in files of up to 5,000 rows, and digital products can't be exported. We split large catalogues and add digital products by hand.
Wix's URL patterns have nothing to land on
By default Wix products sit at /product-page/ and blog posts at /post/. Shopify only redirects URLs that are broken, and can't redirect /cart, /apps, /orders or /shop paths. We map each Wix URL to its Shopify page and test it.
A customer file that won't import
Shopify says you can't import Wix's customer export without editing it first, and there's no data mapping for customer imports. We fix the headings and test a small batch.
Your shop and your search traffic, moved together
We take what Wix will export, rebuild what it won't, and map every old URL.
Products, cleaned
Exported from Wix, then edited to Shopify's template: handles with only letters, dashes and numbers, weights converted to grams, and unpublished until we've checked them.
Customers
Exported from Wix, edited to match Shopify's headings and imported. Customers set a new password or sign in with a one-time code.
Order history
Wix lets you export orders, and Shopify points to import apps for bringing them in. We use one and test on a small batch.
Blog and pages rebuilt
Rebuilt from the live site, post by post, with images, headings and internal links checked.
A redirect map
Every /product-page/ and /post/ URL, plus every page, mapped to Shopify and loaded as a CSV.
The domain moved last
Shopify says to disconnect the domain from the old platform before transferring it, or you may see SSL certificate errors. We sequence it for you.
Forms and tracking
Wix forms rebuilt and tested, with GA4, Google Ads and Meta checked with a test purchase.
Payments, shipping and tax
Set up on Shopify and tested with real test orders through checkout before launch.
What we connect Shopify to
After launch, Shopify becomes the hub. These are the tools around it, and what each carries.
A new checkout means new tracking. We send purchases to the ad platforms from the server as well as the browser, and check one test order end to end.
Who this is for
For you if
- You've outgrown Wix Stores and want Shopify to run products, stock and checkout.
- You have a blog or product pages that rank, and you don't want to lose them.
- You want someone to do the move, not a list of apps to try.
Not for you if
- You have a handful of products and Wix covers it. We'd rather say so.
- You're after a DIY import. Shopify's own guide is a good start, and we'll say where we'd be careful.
- You want to move onto WordPress. We only move sites off it.
What changes when you move
The platforms differ in what they let you take with you.
| What matters | Wix | |
|---|---|---|
| Product export | Imports from CSV, up to 15 MB per file. | Exports to CSV, up to 5,000 rows per file, no digital products. |
| Blog export | Blog posts move in by a migration app or Shopify's APIs. | Wix says exporting blog posts to other platforms isn't currently possible. |
| Reviews | Added again through a review app. | Can't be exported or migrated to Shopify. |
| Redirects | Up to 100,000 on a standard store, CSV import, only for broken URLs. | Up to 5,000 per site, custom domain only, none from the home page. |
| Default product URL | /products/ | /product-page/ |
| Product options | Shopify's Store Migration app imports up to three options. | Products can carry more, so we check any that do. |

What happens after you get in touch
Short call
You tell us how many products, options and blog posts you have, and whether reviews or digital products matter.
Export and crawl
We export products, customers and orders from Wix, and crawl the live site for the blog and every URL.
Write the plan
You get the route for products with many options, what's rebuilt by hand, and a timeline in writing, before we start.
Import and test
Products stay unpublished until we've checked them. Customers and past orders follow, then a test order runs through checkout.
Move the domain and watch
Redirects go live, the domain moves last, the sitemap goes to Google, and we check Search Console and orders every day for two weeks.
On your move we check variants against your old catalogue, run a test order through checkout, and test each redirect before the domain moves. We built a Shopify store for about 180 products with purchases reported from the server; that store was a new build.
Ask us on the call what we'd test first on a Wix store.
Questions people ask before booking
Straight answers, so you know what to expect.
Still have a question?
Book a callWhat happens to our rankings after the move?
We map every old Wix address, send the new sitemap to Google, and check Search Console daily for two weeks. Where a page is left out of the index, we fix the reason and ask Google to index it again.
Can you move my Wix blog?
Yes, though not by export, because Wix says that isn't currently possible. We rebuild each post from your live blog, check it against the original, and redirect every old post URL to the new one.
Will we lose our reviews?
Shopify's guide says reviews can't be exported or migrated from Wix. If they matter, we can add them back through a review app, and we'll tell you how many you have before you decide.
Will our rankings drop?
We can't promise they won't move, and nobody honest can. Google says to expect temporary fluctuation. We map every Wix URL, use permanent redirects and check Search Console daily for two weeks.
What about products with lots of options?
Shopify's migration app doesn't import options beyond three, so we check your catalogue first and choose the CSV route for those products.
When does the domain move?
Last. Shopify says to disconnect it from the old platform before transferring it, or you may see SSL errors. We schedule that with you so there's no gap.
How long does it take?
A Wix to Shopify migration used to take months. Now it can take weeks, or even days. The biggest factor is how quickly your team can review the work and give feedback. You'll see the timeline in the written plan before we start.
Tell us about your Wix store.
How many products, whether any have more than three options, and whether you run a blog.
- You'll talk to Ben or Cam, the people who do the work.
- We'll reply within one working day.
