FAQ answer

How does Adobe Photoshop pricing work and is it worth the investment?

Short answer

Photoshop is a monthly subscription from Adobe, sold alone, with Lightroom in the Photography plan, or inside Creative Cloud Pro. At the time of writing (21 October 2026), Adobe's UK page lists Photoshop at £21.98 a month including VAT on an annual plan billed monthly, but prices and offers change, so check Adobe's plans page . It's worth it if you have image jobs a layout tool can't do. If you only crop and resize, a free editor is enough.

How Photoshop pricing works

Adobe sells Photoshop as a subscription, and the plans differ in what they bundle. Photoshop alone is one option. The Photography plan adds Lightroom, and at the time of writing (21 October 2026) it costs a little less than Photoshop on its own (£19.97 against £21.98 a month, including VAT). Creative Cloud Pro includes Adobe's wider set of apps and more generative credits. Teams are priced per licence.

Adobe changes prices and introductory offers often, so use its plans page for today's figures.

What to check before you subscribe

  • Which jobs you actually have. Retouching, cut-outs and compositing are Photoshop jobs. Page and ad layouts are better in Figma.
  • Generative credits. Features such as Generative Fill use monthly credits, and the allowance depends on the plan.
  • How many people need it. It's a licence per person.

When a free editor is enough

If you only crop, resize and compress images, you don't need Photoshop.

How do you maintain brand consistency when using Photoshop across marketing campaigns?

Use a template and keep the settings the same. One file with set sizes, layer groups and export names means images come out matching.

For one shop we built a product-photo template with fixed export names, so every product gets the same set of files.

What are the performance and system requirements for running Photoshop efficiently?

Check Adobe's current system requirements for your operating system before you subscribe, because they change with each release. In practice, large files need plenty of memory and a fast drive.

What are the key Photoshop features that marketing teams should master?

Five cover much of the marketing work: layers and masks, selection tools for cut-outs, smart objects, batch actions, and export settings. Camera RAW and Generative Fill are useful extras.

How do you integrate Adobe Photoshop into modern marketing workflows?

Photoshop is where an image gets prepared. We design the page or ad layout in Figma, then export the image at the size the layout needs and compress it before it goes on a page or into an ad.

For one shop we built a Photoshop template for its product photos, with fixed export names and a three-stage compression pipeline.

What types of marketing projects require Adobe Photoshop over other design tools?

Jobs where the picture itself needs work: retouching a photo, cutting a product out of its background, combining images, and making a template for a set of matching product images. For layouts, we use Figma.
